We thought former Vol Coach Phillip Fulmer showed remarkable restraint as a color commentator for CBS Sports last weekend. On the SEC report show, Fulmer did not get up on the desk and dance a jig announcing that his long time nemesis the Crimson Tide of Alabama had been defeated by LSU.
Fulmer, spiffy in a suit and tie, did manage to mention the “John Chavis” defense bottling up the Tide about three times. Chavis, of course, was Fulmer’s long-time defensive coordinator when both men led the Vols. When Fulmer was fired as Vol coach Chavis went to Baton Rouge to be defensive coordinator for Les Miles.
