A Creepy Mr. Twisty

A strange event occurred at Knoxville Zoo on Nov. 1 at about 2:45 p.m. What began as appearing a little odd quickly escalated into a definitely creepy situation.

A security officer at the zoo reported that he saw a man handing out balloons to children near the Kids Cove area, which includes a playground. After the security officer questioned the man about his intentions and acquired his identity, he returned to his office and checked the Sex Offender Registry. Sure enough, the man was on the list and the security officer called police.

Police arrived at the scene and confirmed the man’s identification and past charges. An investigator was contacted and he proceeded to further question the man and his girlfriend. The man said that he was aware of his inability to visit public playgrounds or parks, but said that he was unaware he was not allowed to visit the zoo.

He said he was giving out balloons because it was just something he does for fun. But after further questioning, he told investigators that besides his primary job as a delivery driver, he performs as a balloon artist named “Mr. Twisty.” The man gave investigators his business card that has pictures of him handing out balloons to children. The incident is still under investigation.

First off: Passing a law that says a person cannot go to a park or a playground is illegal. It is illegal because it brushes with a broad stroke and general descriptions and banishes a group of people, without hearing and without appeal. It doesn't matter whether that person does not pose a danger, or when the underlying conviction happened. Through a simple vote, the right to use public spaces has been taken.

What is truly creepy, is the way the legislature can take away freedoms, not by law, which requires due process, but by fiat and the stroke of a pen.

Your registry is illegitimate and anyone can do whatever they can to avoid your illegal and unconstitutional registry that is ONLY used to harass, threaten, isolate, banish and put fear into offenders, can be increased at whim and fails to protect the community or the offender.

To Rudy101..Do you really want child molesters giving your child a balloon? Because that is why that law is there. Most people dont just wake up one day and say, I think Im going to steal a kid today and do horrible things to them. They usually have had a history. As for me, I wouldnt want Mr Twisty around mine.

I have to respond, even if nobody is going to read it.

Steal a kid? Putting your child into a car is 100's to times more dangerous than the risk that your child will be kidnapped by a stranger.

Next: Just put a list together of crack-heads and you will feel the same way. Or how about robbers, thieves and liars?

It never ends, does it? You want a law, but hate due process for it. It is the hallmark, of not a free country, but a despotic one.
