What does a Republican wave sound like? Like the 1980s, apparently. As giddy Knox County GOPers packed the Summitt Ballroom at the Crowne Plaza on Tuesday night in anticipation of Bill Haslam’s victory speech, a generic wedding-type band chugged through some hard-rock chestnuts from the Age of Reagan: “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll,” “You Shook Me All Night Long,” “Summer of ‘69.” Half the crowd was probably too old to enjoy this stuff the first time around, but maybe even for them the songs conjured up supply-side flashbacks. We did wonder, though: Who decided it would be a good idea to include “Crazy Train”.
