Marla Allen says she’s not surprised that Camp Reggae, a weekend-long Memorial Day weekend reggae festival organized by her and her husband, Jatti Allen, has lasted for more than a decade. “I felt that a festival, a real festival, a real place for people to get together for peace and love, has to grow,” she says.
This year’s Camp Reggae, the 11th annual installment of the festival, starts on Friday and runs through Sunday, with performances by dozens of local, regional, and international bands, including the Allens’ Natti Love Joys. Camp Reggae is held at the Allens’ 1,500-acre retreat near Isabella, Tenn., southeast of Chattanooga. Weekend passes are $70 for adults, $60 for students, and $10 for children. Visit the Camp Reggae website for more information.
