There’s a simple way to tell who is Appalachian and who isn’t. [“Are We Appalachian?” by Frank Carlson, March 11, 2010] Folks who say “Appa-LATCH-a” know from whence they spring. Those who say “Appa-LAY-cha” or, even worse, “Appa-LAY-sha” haven’t got a clue.
