According to a Knoxville Police Department report, at around 1 a.m. on March 13 at a Cedar Bluff apartment complex, a 30-year-old maintenance man paid a social visit to one of the tenants, a 21-year-old female.
The handyman asked if he could smoke crack in the tenant’s apartment, explaining that his girlfriend would not allow him to smoke crack in their apartment. The victim denied his request, saying she was pregnant and did not want to endanger the health of her unborn child.
This upset the handyman, who then exited the apartment. However, a short time later, he called the tenant claiming he had left his crack in her apartment. The woman searched her apartment but failed to turn up any narcotics. When the victim told the handyman she could not find his drugs, he became outraged and demanded the woman give him crack or monetary compensation for his lost goods.
The tenant did not respond to the threats, so the maintenance man allegedly returned to the apartment and banged on the windows and door with a bathroom plunger for nearly 15 minutes. Strangely, the tenant did not report the disturbance until several days later when she realized her door frame was cracked and assumed the handyman’s assault had caused the damage.
