As a friend of Capt. Marcus R. Alford Sr. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the people of Knoxville who respectfully lined the streets during his funeral procession. From the school children waving flags along Kingston Pike to the utility worker who held his hard hat over his heart, your show of support was very moving and very much appreciated. I would also like to thank the police officers who escorted the funeral procession and ensured that the long line of cars arrived safely. I feel privileged to have known Marcus and to have called him my friend; and now, more than ever, I feel privileged to live in such a great city.
