Republicans were whooping it up last weekend at Rothchild’s for the annual Lincoln Day Dinner. The event drew Republican candidates for the county primary, the party faithful, and at least three gubernatorial candidates. Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam had home-field advantage, but Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey and Congressman Zach Wamp also got a warm welcome.
Wamp greeted the crowd on the front sidewalk, Haslam had the foyer, and Ramsey was just inside at the registration table during much of the early “meet and greet” portion of the event.
State Sen. Tim Burchett and former Sheriff Tim Hutchison, both candidates for mayor, shook hands and said hello—and someone put them at adjoining tables.
