Barbara Aston-Wash has chronicled high society in Knoxville for decades from her desk in the News Sentinel Living department. Your black tie party just wasn’t a party without the inestimable Ms. Aston-Wash on hand to record it. Since her retirement from the paper she has continued to do “People & Parties” for the Sunday Living section on a contract basis.
Of late, she has alternated weeks with Gay Lyons, but that arrangement is also drawing to a close. In the near future, Lyons will take over the column and Aston-Wash will also retire from society reporting. Lyons is an editor at Knoxville magazine who is active in several local civic organizations like Knox Heritage.
