David Moon, a Tiger Vol?

Knoxville Zoo board chair and former University of Tennessee football player David Moon raised more than a few eyebrows by wearing an LSU coaches’ sideline shirt recently at Zoofari, the Zoo’s largest fund-raiser.

Moon repeatedly explained that the shirt was provided to him by LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva, the former Duke AD who hired Moon’s good friend and former coach David Cutcliffe as the Blue Devils’ head football coach.

Seeming to take a swipe at UT’s Mike Hamilton, he kept saying “Alleva is a smart guy who understands both the competitive and business nature of college athletics.”

Only a couple of people got the joke: The theme of the Zoo party was “Year of the Tiger.”
