Take Back the Strip

On Thursday afternoon, the city and the Metropolitan Planning Commission invite all those interested in the future of Fort Sanders to a meeting on just that topic. As the second quarterly gathering of what are to be a series on plans for the Fort, this installment will include updates on the Cumberland Avenue Corridor plan, as well as on the long-range plan for the area. The Cumberland Avenue Corridor Plan seeks to regain some measure of control on the Strip, integrating it better into the neighborhood and university and reducing the available lanes of traffic to make it more pedestrian friendly and safe.

The meeting begins at 3 p.m., June 3, in Ballroom B of the University of Tennessee Visitor Center, 2704 Kingston Pike.
