On Thursday, July 22, the city invites the public to a follow-up meeting on the streetscape plan for the Downtown North Redevelopment Area. The plan describes ways to improve the major roads and intersections in that neighborhood to make them more pedestrian and bike-friendly, and puts particular focus on North Central and North Gay. Design work has already begun for projects on North Gay, and at this meeting the public can review the plans so the city can finalize them this summer and receive bids come fall. Plans for North Central are expected late this summer with work to begin “as money becomes available.” Yeah.
The meeting takes place at 6 p.m. in the Walnut Room of Regas Restaurant, 318 N. Gay St. You can examine plan schematics online at citofknoxville.org/downtownnorth.
