Rep. Glen Casada No Longer On House Commerce Committee

Perhaps it’s a coincidence or maybe a subtle hint. But beginning this session state Rep. Glen Casada, a frequent critic of House Speaker Kent Williams, is no longer listed on the Legislature’s website as being on the powerful House Commerce Committee. His name has been replaced by state Rep. Eric Swafford, R-Pikeville.

Some committee assignment were shuffled by Williams, ostensibly to make positions for younger members. Casada is the Republican Caucus Chair and he and Republican Leader Jason Mumpower have clashed with Williams, since Williams used Democratic votes to become speaker over Mumpower last session. Casada remains on the Finance Committee.
