WUOT's Ann Lloyd Off the Air

Last Wednesday, local radio journalist Ann Lloyd announced on her Facebook page that she was no longer employed by public radio station WUOT. While details behind the decision are still lacking, Lloyd made it clear she had been dismissed from her “dream job,” not downsized, in a reply to a Metro Pulse inquiry that arrived an hour or so after the Facebook group “Boycott WUOT 91.9 FM” formed on her behalf:

“I never expected to be the subject of a media campaign... I’m sorry to leave WUOT. It is a wonderful radio station with a tremendously talented staff. I harbor no ill will to anyone there. I believe politics and economics each played a part in the decision to let me go. I am contesting the action of UT and hope for a good outcome.”

Lloyd also added that she has major health issues and is scheduled for knee replacement surgery this week.

According to University of Tennessee’s director of media and internal relations, Karen Collins, “This is a personnel matter, not anything the university will be commenting on.”
