So just how bad is the housing situation in Knox County these days?
The number of foreclosures for 2009 is up 50 percent over 2007, the last year of “normal” or pre-recession housing activity. It capped a trend. Foreclosures for 2008 had jumped by one-third over the 2007 total, which was about 1,000. The number jumped to more than 1,300 in 2008 and the total number of foreclosures for 2009 was close to 1,500.
