Maybe they weren’t precisely made in Knoxville, but they definitely morphed into an iconic item here. For the nostalgia buff: a light bulb from the J, F, or G of the JFG Coffee Sign dismantled at the south end of the Gay Street Bridge. The revived sign will feature new technology, wherever it ends up after its restoration; proceeds from the bulbs (which come with a certificate of authenticity) will go towards preserving other vintage signs in East Tennessee.
Sold on Knox Heritage’s website, knoxheritage.org, $10 each plus nominal shipping and handling.
