We hear that Knoxville mayoral candidates might be having some trouble raising money.
A recession and “Haslam fatigue” may have left many potential donors tapped out. High-profile fund-raisers have been about turnout and getting “names” on host committees, but the amount of money raised may not be what it appears.
With six candidates in the race thus far, it is also the case in Knoxville that potential contributors are also friends with and committed to more than one candidate in the race.
Bill Haslam’s race for governor resulted in a great deal of money being contributed by politically active Knoxvillians. It may take a few months for their checkbooks to recover.
