Going back to Knoxville.

I’m leaving on Monday to spend the Christmas holiday in my hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee. It will be nice to be home for a couple of weeks, but Knoxville’s defining characteristic is the crushing, ever-present boredom. And it was that same boredom that defined my formative years.

But on the other hand, I may owe a lot to the lack of things to do in Knoxville during my childhood to spawning whatever creativity I do have. Like, the suburb I lived in was just boring enough to make me find alternative means of occupying my time, but not so boring that I turned to meth....
