Congratulations to Mike Gibson for his wonderful profile of our very own taste maker, Nelda Hill, in the Nov. 18 issue. [“The Taste-Maker,” Citybeat] Now the community knows what the library always has: Nelda is at the forefront of enduring trends at the Knox County Public Library. Our Sights and Sounds collection has indeed soared under her guidance, and starting in early 2011, we will be offering e-books to Library cardholders due in large part to Nelda’s encouragement. She has truly been in the vanguard of culture in Knoxville.

One note of clarification: the Knoxville Jazz Festival and its documentary were funded, not by the Library per se, but through grants from some generous organizations including The Friends of the Knox County Public Library, the Harold and Evelyn R. Davis Foundation, Alstom Power, and the Tennessee Arts Commission among others. Again, thank you for the article.
