Bearden Club 4620 Closes Its Doors

Just a few months after it re-opened its doors as a newly revamped gay bar and dance venue, the long-running one-time jazz spot/tapas restaurant/dance club 4620 at 4620 Kingston Pike in Bearden is now closed for good. Owner Daniel Leal says that he and his partner, Duane Carleo, decided to end their affiliation with the Kingston Pike address after the shopping center where it’s located was sold to a large development company. The club closed down after the second weekend in August.

“Our lease was up, the rent was too high, and I really just wanted a place with windows,” says Leal, who is currently working on a new project, a neighborhood bar in Morristown. Carleo, who currently owns the Old City bar and dance club Southbound, is also working on a new project in the Old City: Carleo’s, a lounge and nightclub across the street from Southbound at 117 S. Central St., in the space formerly occupied by Legacy Vintage Clothing. There is no word on what will fill the unoccupied 4620 address.
