Knoxville Opera Announces 2010-11 Season

Knoxville Opera took advantage of last weekend’s Rossini Festival, and the accompanying production of Rossini’s Barber of Seville in particular, to announce the schedule for the 2010-11 season, which starts in October. Knoxville Opera will stage productions of Puccini’s popular tragedy Madama Butterfly on Oct. 1 and Oct. 3 to start the season, with Massenet’s Manon (Feb. 11 and Feb. 13) and Bellini’s I Puritani (April 8 and April 10) scheduled for next year. I Puritani, which will accompany next year’s Rossini Festival, will star soprano Rachele Gilmore, last seen in Knoxville Opera’s February production of Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor.
