Gene Patterson, anchor of WATE news, will be this year’s honoree for the Front Page Follies.
Each year the Society of Professional Journalists put on a musical variety show poking fun at the foibles of public officials and giving a humorous look at the news of the past year. The show recognizes a person each year for their contributions to journalism. This year’s show will be July 24.
Patterson has been a local news reporter and anchor for 25 years at WBIR and WATE. He also served a stint as deputy to Mayor Victor Ashe.
