Victor Ashe Leaves Post at Embassy

During his tenure as ambassador to Poland, former Knoxville Mayor Victor Ashe played host to a lot of people, including scores of them from Knoxville. The last two guests at the embassy before Ashe turned in his keys last week were Knox County Commission Chair Tank Strickland and Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. According to the embassy newsletter, Ashe and his wife Joan had 320 overnight guests and 28,500 visitors during their tenure.

Ashe plans to return to Knoxville, but has given no hint of his plans for the future.
