The U.S. Postal Service may soon close 413 post offices nationwide, in a cost-cutting move, and one of them could be in Knoxville. The initial list, released in Washington, included 17 post offices in Tennessee.
The PDF preliminary list includes the Norwood post office at 5727 Clinton Highway.
No final decision will be made until Oct. 2.
Most of the post offices to be closed in Tennessee are in Nashville, Chattanooga, Clarksville, and Memphis. One of those to be closed is in the Arcade in Nashville, a business district off an alley near the state Capitol amid a string of coffee shops, barbershops, and shoe-shine stands frequented by visitors to Legislative Plaza.
