Jag Star's 'Does Anybody Know?' Named best Pop Song by JPF Awards

Long-running local alt-pop-rock band Jag Star won an award for Best Pop Song at the JPF Awards in Nashville last month for the song “Does Anybody Know?” off their 2006 album The Best Impression of Sanity.

The JPF Awards have been run since 1999 by Just Plain Folks, a Nashville organization that represents 50,000 independent music professionals. Jag Star also finished third in the Best Pop Album category with The Best Impression of Sanity. “We did not expect to win this and were so excited to hear our name called,” Jag Star singer/songwriter Sarah Lewis says in a press release. “We were in some awesome company so it’s definitely an honor to be recognized!”

Lewis and her husband, Jag Star guitarist J, moved to Nashville for more than a year after the release of The Best Impression of Sanity but returned to Knoxville just before the birth of their daughter, Sofie. “I thought our music career was the coolest thing we could do but I was wrong,” Lewis says in an e-mail. “Mommyhood is!”

The band is working on a new album for release in late 2009 or early 2010.
