Bellfield Takes the Big Stage This Fall With headlining Slot at Bijou

The members of local alt-rock band Bellfield are making sure they don’t forget their time up on the stage of the 100-year-old Bijou Theatre, widely renowned for its superb acoustics, later this month—the band has hired Memphis engineer/producer Jeff Powell to turn tapes from the show into a double-disc live album.

Powell’s coming to record the show, and then the band will join him at Ardent Studios in Memphis for mixing and production of the live disc, which the band says should be ready early next year.

“We’ve been working our tails off in Knoxville for years now, and this show is sort of a culmination of all of our hard work,” says Bellfield guitarist/singer Van Gallick.

Bellfield will play the Bijou with openers Jon Worley (of the Cornbred Blues Band) and the Big Deuce on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 and are available at knoxbijou.com. A ticket stub from the show will be good for half-off the live album when it’s available.

CLARIFICATION: An earlier version of this story suggested local promoters AC Entertainment had booked Bellfield at the Bijou Theatre. The band has rented the Bijou for this performance.
