University of Tennessee music composition senior Johnny Newman is promoting his senior recital, “Impassioned: Symphonic Metal & Multimedia,” on Monday, Nov. 2, as a heavy metal concert performed by an orchestra. The UT Studio Orchestra, led by Rusty Holloway, will perform Newman’s compositions “Polly Wants a Rhythm,” “Desideratum I,” and “In Love” at the UT Music Hall at 8 p.m. You can check out some of Newman’s work, which combines rock guitar with electronic and classical composition, at his website.
