A short travel piece on the New York Magazine website this week recognized the usual downtown hotspots—Hotel St. Oliver, Old City Java, Veg-O-Rama, the Crown & Goose, and the Square Room, among them. Reporter Elizabeth Cline also recommended Metro Pulse as the city’s definitive guide to entertainment: “For in-the-know music suggestions, click through the listings on Metropulse.com, an independent local paper that really knows Knoxville nightlife.” We might not be independently owned anymore since the Scripps purchase, but we definitely agree with the rest of that sentence.
