Knoxville’s still on the Top 10 list for fall—sadly, it’s allergies, not football. And while we did descend from 2008’s No. 6 ranking according to the list of “fall allergy” capitals selected by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, Knoxville still ranks #9. Here’s the scoop:
Cities are ranked based on four factors: prevalence data, seasonal pollen, allergy medicine use per patient, and the number of board-certified allergists per patient.
Knoxville’s rank in 2008: 6
Knoxville’s rank in 2009: 9
Pollen score: better than average
Medicine usage: worse than average

Total Score: 90.81
The rest of the Top 10:
1. McAllen, Tx.
2. Wichita, Kan.
3. Louisville, Ky.
4. Oklahoma City
5. Jackson, Miss.
6. Dayton, Ohio
7. Augusta, Ga.
8. Tulsa, Okla.
