United Way Offers Goods at Online Auction

A 1948 Indian Motorcycle partially refurbished and featured on a DIY Network show, a Copley acoustic guitar autographed by Dolly Parton, and a chance to appear as an extra in the Oxygen Network show Snapped are some of the most intriguing items being offered via online auction fund-raiser by the United Way of Greater Knoxville. They’ve amassed 160 items, many luxurious (for example, four adult passes to Biltmore and its winery, plus luggage), and others fairly affordable (like the gift basket from Coffee and Chocolate on Market Square and the autographed copy of Debbie Macomber’s Where Angels Go). Hard to say who’s doing the bidding so far, as identities are obscured by log-in IDs such as “utch44,” but we’re pretty sure we know the Number 4 top bidder as of Oct. 5, at $508, because he or she is signed in as “cmmoxley.” Intrigued? Hit the ’net soon, because the Bidding For Good auction ends promptly at 4 p.m. EDT on Oct. 16. As for that Snapped appearance, the listing says, “You’ll play a role in the dramatic recreation of a murder. Will you be the killer or the victim?” Someone must win the bid to find out; as of Oct. 5, it was $176.
