Fresh off approval of its petition to remove Knox County school board member Bill Phillips, a coalition will attempt to nail down some of the 15 percent of 8th District signatures needed for its petition to go forward in August. Phillips is a first-term board member who pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor assault on his wife last December. In February the board’s ethics committee voted to censure Phillips, and there have been persistent calls for his resignation.
The petition signing will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bread Box (5020 Washington Pike), the Carter Soccer Field, and the parking lot next to Ritta School.
