After the Tenderhooks abruptly ended their six-year run a few weeks ago, singer/guitarist Jake Winstrom hit the road as a solo artist to fulfill a handful of dates the band had scheduled around the Southeast.
“It was good. It was definitely a learning experience,” he says of the first leg, which took him through Nashville, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia. “Some nights were better than others. I played different songs each night to see what worked and what didn’t. I’m a lot more confident than I was last week.”
Winstrom’s back on the road this week for more shows in Virginia and North Carolina, and he’s scheduled to play New York over the Thanksgiving weekend.
In other post-Tenderhooks news, ex-’hooks guitarist Ben Oyler is playing a solo set at Pilot Light on Monday, Dec. 7. The full band was initially scheduled to play.
