Cumberland Ave Corridor Project; Annual Knox Heritage Preservation Awards

The City of Knoxville and the Metropolitan Planning Commission will welcome residents to learn more about the Cumberland Avenue Corridor Project on Thursday, Nov. 12. Staff will focus on a draft of the form-based code and the next steps in adopting it, but the meeting will also include an update on the streetscape project.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the UT Visitors’ Center, 2704 Kingston Pike.

On Wednesday, Nov. 18, the Bijou Theatre will host the 2009 Knox Heritage Annual Meeting and Preservation Awards Ceremony. This ceremony includes awards from the city and county mayors; ones for the volunteer of the year, the “Fantastic Fifteen” for compatible new construction, restoration, and continuing maintenance; and the preservationist of the year. The distinguished guest of the evening will be house planner and HGTV star Jack Thomasson.

The evening kicks off at 5 p.m.
