Sassy Ann's to Stop Live Music Shows

After more than 10 years, Sassy Ann’s will no longer host live music, according to a press release issued last week by club owner Vicky Vinson. The Fourth and Gill club’s weekly musicians’ jam on Wednesday nights will continue, but weekend shows—originally with regional and national blues and R&B acts and with local rock bands for the last couple of years—will no longer be held.

“Though it is sad for me to discontinue playing live music, except for our Wednesday jams, and because I have always tried to support local musicians, as well as national bands, I am throwing in the towel,” Vinson says in the release.

Sassy Ann’s will celebrate the recent introduction of absinthe to its bar with Green Fairy Fridays throughout May. Local DJs will spin house and techno music; patrons in Victorian costumes will be eligible for drink discounts.
