Local singer/songwriter Kata Hay, leader of the local country combo Kata and the Blaze, has been in the public eye for more than a decade, even though she’s only 22. She appeared on Star Search way back in 1993, and got attention a few years ago for her version of Eddy Arnold’s hit “Cattle Call.” Now one of her songs is headed for the big screen—”Western Way,” written when Hay was 15, will be featured in the opening scene of Coyote County Loser, a comedy set for release this summer.
Kata and the Blaze are also planning to release a new album, Remember That Summer, later this year.
