“A Stormy Night”

A stormy night the
rain comes pouring down
upon the sleeping grass
to soothe the thirsty ground
and let the dryness pass.

The lightning flashes bright
and the thunder rolls behind
with a fierce sound of might
that only on a stormy night
it can find.

When the storm is through
there is a stillness in the air—
and again the sky is blue
as if the storm had not been there.
