County voters last year approved a charter amendment that will shrink County Commission from 19 members to 11—one elected in each of the county’s nine districts and two at-large. To maintain equal commission representation in each of those districts despite the change, their boundaries are being redrawn. On April 1, the Knox County Redistricting Committee got its first look at eight possible plans (two of which have since been revised) which could move as many as 84,000 residents into a new district. This week, the committee will be holding a public meeting to get comments about the proposed plans. To see the plans currently under consideration, go to knoxmpc.org/redistricting.
Tuesday, June 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Assembly Room of the City County Building.
