The alternate universe of Maryville increases its cool-stuff-to-do quotient tenfold this weekend with the inaugural Smoky Mountain Dragon’s Breath Brewers Jam. A fund-raiser for the non-profit Smoky Mountain Animal Care Foundation (SMACF), the brew fest is set for Saturday, June 20, from noon to 5 p.m., outdoors at the Shed at Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson & Buell on W. Lamar Alexander Parkway.
With live performances from the Drunk Uncles and Ned Van Go—plus more than 80 delightfully named beers to sample, including Sam Adams Blackberry, Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout, Left Hand Milk Stout, Smithwick’s Irish Ale, Abita Purple Haze, Rogue Dead Guy, Farmer Ted’s Cream Ale, Twisted Tea, Hard Core Crisp, Jack Daniel’s Black Jack Cola—it may be the perfect union of craft brews and music. And you can drink up with the knowledge that you’re helping a worthy cause: A portion of the proceeds raised at the Brewers Jam will be donated to the SMACF’s effort to open Blount County’s first official animal shelter, which will be used to house animals, ensure proper medical care, perform spay and neuter procedures, and act as a classroom to educate the public on proper animal care.
Tickets are $25 per person, which may be pre-purchased online at smh-d.com. (A total of 1,000 tickets will be sold for the event, so online pre-purchasing is encouraged.) Needless to say, you must be 21 years old. Added bonus: Brewers Jam attendees may also stay for a live performance from the Caddle at the Shed later that evening, beginning at 8 p.m. A former Lowe’s converted into a plush Harley haven, Smoky Mountain H-D and its concert venue, the Shed, are well worth checking out, even if you’re not a biker.
