Pink Martini Admires Tennessee Theatre's 'Faberge Egg'

Pink Martini pianist Thomas Lauderdale is an old-fashioned show-biz type. He pauses between songs for easy, casual banter and jokes with the band, just like an old big-band leader. But it was the Portland, Ore., ensemble’s singer, China Forbes, who got off the best line during the group’s concert at the Tennessee Theatre on Sunday, June 7. “You don’t see rooms like this all the time,” Forbes said, glancing up at the ceiling. “It’s like being inside a Fabergé egg.”
