Gun Boo-Boo?

It did not escape the notice of gubernatorial candidate Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey that when Gov. Phil Bredesen vetoed a popular gun bill (at least among gun owners) that he was flanked by Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam’s police chief.

Chief Sterling Owen IV is head of the state police chief’s association and he and some of the other chiefs were in Nashville for a conference and came over to attend Bredesen’s press conference. They showed up to support Bredesen’s veto of a bill that allows gun permit holders to carry into restaurants that also serve alcohol.

Ramsey guided the gun bill through the Legislature and is expected to lead the effort to override Bredesen’s veto.

Gun rights groups have already demanded the names of the veto supporters.
