All-ages concert spaces are, almost by definition, short-term projects. It’s hard to make any money if your target audience is teenagers or if you can’t sell alcohol. That’s not stopping Dave Webb and his brother, James, from trying their hands at hosting regular all-ages shows in town, an enterprise that’s been especially fleeting in Knoxville the last couple of years.
Operating under the name Oh So Epic Entertainment, the brothers opened a performance space in South Knoxville at 5723 Burnett Rd. called the OSE in June and are booking occasional shows at the Rock Studio on Broadway in downtown Maryville.
“It’s a venue where kids can go, there aren’t any drugs, and they can hear good music in a safe environment,” says Dave Webb, 18. (His brother is 22.) “We’re pretty excited about this.”
On Aug. 10, the OSE will hold a benefit show for the national non-profit To Write Love on Her Arms, an organization that supports people struggling with mental illness and substance abuse. For details on that show and other upcoming events at the OSE, visit myspace.com/ohsoepicofficial.
