Harper Jaguar owner Tom Harper is proud of his fourth consecutive Pride of Jaguar Dealer Excellence Award, announced by Jaguar North America in June—but only cautiously optimistic about recent sales at his Kingston Pike dealership. “Our sales in the past year or so are down a little bit from previous years, but we seem to be doing better than expected,” says Harper, who’s been in business since 1981. “I think we’re seeing a little upswing right now, and it’s always good to be optimistic.” But realistic. “I’ve read some of those comments from my car dealer colleagues, ‘This is the best month I’ve ever had!’ I certainly can’t say that, and I’m not sure how they can. It’s a tough climate. But we’re doing okay.”
