The Cumberland Avenue Advisory Committee, a group of residents, city employees, and Cumberland Avenue merchants, will meet Wednesday to discuss ongoing progress in the Cumberland Avenue Corridor Project, an ambitious redesign project initiated in 2007 by the Knoxville Metropolitan Planning Commission. Then, on Thursday, the MPC will meet and vote on whether to amend the city’s zoning ordinances to include the Cumberland Avenue District, allowing for new development regulations and design standards there. The Commission will also have a report on the Magnolia Avenue Corridor Plan, a similar redesign project for the city’s historic east-side thoroughfare.
The Cumberland Avenue Advisory Committee will meet on Wednesday, July 8, at 4 p.m. in the University Visitors Center on the UTK campus.
The Metropolitan Planning Commission will meet on Thursday, July 9, in the Main Assembly Room of the City County Building.
