Peace protests on hiatus; Obama's enough

People For Peace habitually forgo the brunch hours the third Sunday of each month to protest the Iraq war on the corner of Kingston Pike and Concord, but not in January. And except for an anniversary protest in March, perhaps never again. Unlike the last protest interruption, which was decreed by the KPD because the group led by Bob Grimac was allegedly blocking the sidewalks illegally, the idea this time came from Grimac himself. As he explained in his Christmas letter to like-minded peaceniks, the election of Obama was enough to make him feel the group could cease and desist with 56 protests under their natural-fiber belts —- at least for now.
