TVA has told the Securities and Exchange Commission that a North Carolina judge’s ruling will cost the agency $1 billion more than the utility had planned to spend retooling its coal-fired power plants. The schedule for clean-up will be $1.8 billion and TVA had planned to spend $0.8 billion.
The report also confirms an interview in which CEO Tom Kilgore told the Tennessean that cleaning up the ash spill at the Kingston Steam Plant will cost “hundreds of millions” of dollars.
Lawyers take notes.
