Recently Metro Pulse ran an article about the revitalization of Central St. and surrounding areas. [“Time Warp to 2009,” cover story, Jan. 1, 2009] The article was okay, but why did you use an old picture of the Monday flatiron building, corner Central and Broadway??
That building has had a beautiful exterior renovation, as part of the Knoxville Facade Improvement Program. Since you used such an old picture, I would suggest your writer go back and look at the striking buildings on both sides of Central at Broadway, then go up Central and around the corner to Jennings St. and see The Ironwood Studios’ exterior paint job, as part of the same program. We are indeed in the midst of reviving our neighborhood. Thank you for noticing.
