City Council Swearing In; CBID Discusses Strategic Plan

At noon this Saturday, Dec. 19, the newly elected City Council members—Nick Pavlis, Duane Grieve, Brenda Palmer, Nick Della Volpe, and Daniel T. Brown—will be sworn in during a ceremony in the main assembly room of the City County Building (400 Main St.). Then, at 1:30 p.m., a special meeting will take place to elect the vice-mayor, the chairperson of the beer board, and a council representative for the Knoxville Transportation Authority.

On Dec. 21, the Central Business Improvement District will meet for its monthly board meeting and to discuss its strategic plan. Last month that plan—which lays out downtown’s goals for the next three years and is still available online (downtownknoxville.org)—was discussed at some length, but the board decided to give it more time for discussion before moving forward on a vote in January.

The board meeting begins at 11:30 a.m., while discussion of the strategic plan probably won’t start until 12:15 p.m.. It all takes place at the CBID’s offices, 17 Market Square.
