Dirty Guv'nahs Plan Trip to Levon Helm Studio For Next Record

Just a few weeks ago, we reported that the Dirty Guv’nahs—voted Best Band in the last two Metro Pulse readers’ polls—had tentatively booked time in December at the same Athens, Ga., studio where they recorded the self-titled breakout album they released in April. It turns out an even better deal has come the Guv’nahs way, in the form of a 12-day session at Levon Helm Studio in Woodstock, N.Y.

The studio is located on property owned by Helm, the former drummer for the Band and mastermind of the now-famous Midnight Ramble music extravaganzas in Woodstock. The band’s session at the studio is scheduled to run from Dec. 7-18, with engineering by Grammy winner Justin Guip, according to singer James Trimble.

The Guv’nahs will open for the Levon Helm Band at the Midnight Ramble on Dec. 12.
