Metropolitan Planning Commission Meeting

Last spring, Knoxvillians were invited to go to the Knoxville-Knox County MPC’s website and vote on new names for a few streets included in the city’s South Waterfront project. The MPC will meet next week to vote on some of the suggestions. The two streets up for a vote are the currently unnamed “E” Street, which will either be Empire Street or Eclipse Street—both names of historic riverboats—and Lincoln Street, which will be either Foggy Bottom Street or Foggy Bend Street. The MPC will also take a vote on recommendations for new development regulations for the Cumberland Avenue Strip. The new regulations will allow for more mixed-use and high-density development and make the area more pedestrian friendly. For a complete agenda of the meeting, go to knoxmpc.org.

Thursday, August 13, at 1:30 p.m. in the Main Assembly Room of the City County Building
