Are You Smarter Than a 10th Grader?

East Tennessee Public Television’s Scholars Bowl for high school students celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, so it’s high time for a spin-off. That’d be Adult Scholars’ Bowl, slated to air in March 2010, and featuring adult squads of four to eight (with four on screen at any one time) competing head-to-head to answer trivia questions in categories such as pop culture, politics, current events, and general knowledge. ETPtv is spinning the competition as an opportunity for business sponsors, with a $1,000 entry fee for teams that can include any mix of family, friends, or coworkers as long as they’re all over 18. They’re also appealing to geek pride, with the allure of a trophy, underwriting package for their organization, and team exposure to the 900,000 households in the ETPtv viewing area. We’re nominating Knox Trivia Guys’ Andy Key, but there’s been no mention of the show host yet. Teams must be registered by Nov. 20; taping starts in January.
